One of the key highlights of my tenure as Secretary — serving on the Constitutional Amendment Committee. Relentless efforts over two years to bring out amendments that added 1 new Governing Council post and 12 new executive-level posts. Aligned the new constitution for future needs — more chance for next-generation leadership, always.

Striving for Equal Opportunity with Actionable Measures
Conceptualised and launched the YO-YO Lounge for the young ones of Young Ophthalmologists at YOSICon — so YOs enjoy the academics while YOYOs have fun, and so that neither of them miss YOSICon.
As YO Times Editor in Chief, I gave the opportunity to different managing editors for each issue — rotating leadership so new voices shaped every edition and more members stepped into editorial responsibility.
Promoting Leadership Before Self
Throughout my tenure as Secretary, I championed a philosophy of leadership through empowerment. By providing behind-the-scenes support, I focused on elevating our community and delivering measurable results:
Built an extensive online knowledge base — equipping Young Ophthalmologists with on-demand learning across subspecialties and practice topics.
View the stream archiveFacilitated in-person sessions across various conferences. To promote inclusive leadership, every session was led by different YOSI members.
Successfully launched and supported programs to drive our organisation's mission forward — empowering working groups to lead from the front.
YOSI must plant a flag in every teaching institution — regardless of size or city. Inclusion is not a value statement; it is a structural commitment. A society that leaves institutions behind cannot lead them.
The members should design the programme, not the other way around. By asking members what they need to learn — and then building it — YOSICon becomes the most relevant conference in their calendar, every year.
